Looking Backwards...and Forewards
The latest meme to hit LiveJournal is this one (discovered at Medley's, where you are invited to think back about what you were doing 20, 15, 10, 5, and 1 year ago, as well as yesterday and today. Jill thought it would be useful to also think about what you would like to be doing tomorrow, 1, 5, 10, 15, and 20 years from today.
20 years ago... I was in college at the University of Texas at Austin, flunking out for the second time. That would have also been ArmadilloCon month.
15 years ago... I was working in the Colorado State University library as the courier between library branches, and had just started to take classes through the free tuition system that university employees could take advantage of. I was able to transfer 99 hours from UT and it shortened the time it took me to finally complete the undergradate degree.
10 years ago... J and I had been married for a year and were looking to get out of Richland, Washington. I was looking into creative writing graduate school programs in DC and Long Island, places where J could possibly continue employment.
5 years ago... I was back in the working world after having completed the MFA and discovering the low pay of a university professor wasn't quite what I wanted. J was just starting her PhD program.
1 year ago... we had just gotten back from the tour of Scottish distilleries.
So far this year... I've mainly made progress in music and tennis, doing those things weekly.
Today... I've been sick, but I still went out and played a set of tennis (I didn't win).
Tomorrow... is another day at work. Trying to finalize one of the two big annual reports I have to do every year.
1 year from today... we hope to have had a wonderful teaching/learning experience in the summer (which I can't say more about...yet).
5 years from today... we want to have spent at least a couple of years working in another country. I'd like to have a CD of music that I helped create be available.
10 years from today... I'd like to have finally published a book: fiction or non-fiction, doesn't matter. It's one of my life goals.
15 years from today... I'd like to retire.
20 years from today... I'd like to still be around.
