HVAC Installation: Complete
J took the duty for the last day of installation, as I had a meeting to attend at my place of employment that day. She said that they didn't have much to do that final day, mainly install the drainage line from the air handler to the outside (which they had been unable to do on Tuesday because they were missing a correct size of tubing) and finish installing the dampers on the flex tubing.
We were quite pleased with the installation, which was handled professionally and courteously. We had obtained three quotes before deciding to go with Davis & Davis. One of them was thrown out simply for the lack of supporting information--all they gave us was an emailed spreadsheet that didn't even have a breakdown of costs. Why send a spreadsheet if you're only going to include one line? We also had a quote from Cropp Metcalf, and were worked hard by their salesman, which J didn't mind so much in comparison with some of our other recent contractor experiences where they never contacted you at all. Personally, I found the fellow pushy--after presenting us the quote he called twice, on the weekend, to see if we had made a decision yet, even after we had said we would be in contact with him once we had made that decision. He had annoyed me so much that I told J she had to be the one to call him and tell him we had gone with another company, simply because I would likely be rude to him. She delayed making that call and I ended up answering the phone and having to do the deed myself, and he was so pushy on the phone (basically implying that the company we selected must be cutting corners if we thought we were getting similar work for a price that was 1/3 less than what he had quoted us) that I verged on being rude, and frankly told him that I thought he was pushy and annoying and that had been part of what had affected my decision not to select his company.
