Thank You, American Voters

I've been pinching myself over and over again to see if this really is a dream. Of course, it's not one of my best dreams: that would be some kind of utopia where the U.S. actually gave a damn about something besides its own economic self-interest and tried to actually do something about the damage our consumption is causing. But this is the next best kind of dream: a return to split government. I was happy enough with just having one side of Congress in the hands of a different party, but two is just icing on the cake, even if we have to put up with Joe "I'll Do Anything to Get to Continue to Bring Pork to My Pharma Friends" Lieberman. Joe has shown that he is certainly no party man, and while he may caucus with the Democrats, I certainly hope they know to, in the words of real estate law, keep him at arms-length.

I'm not even calling for the Democrats to hold hearings on past misdeeds. They can be more Christian than the so-called Christian Right and actually practice a little forgiveness for past Republican sins. But I expect them to hold Bush's feet to the fire from now until we finally kick his ass back to that Texas ranch that he seems to love so much.

Never posted here before, but as a conservative I've always thought gridlock was good.

Really like your header on the blog now.

It's not gridlock--it's normal government, the way the founders intended. Defining gridlock as the normal debate and compromise inherent in a multiple party system of government is Newspeak of the worst kind.
