Polo on the National Mall

We rode downtown on our bikes to watch a polo match hosted by the Madison, "the only 5-star hotel in DC" (which the announcer had to keep repeating). The most annoying thing about it was, for a hosted polo match on public grounds, the big tent didn't include everyone, for it was invitation only. Hrmph. At least for polo matches out in the western U.S., there is a nod towards philanthropy as the surrounding activities benefit charity rather than just the ego of some hoity-toity hotel owners.

Okay, so I was hot and when the announcer suggested at half-time that we could take our cold beverage and go stomp divits, I was a little miffed at not having a glass of champagne in my hand.

I'm not bitter.

The amusing side of it all was, as we arrived, the announcer mentioned a player named Lewis, which J immediately said, "Hey, that's my vet!" Sure enough, we discovered where he's been spending those big checks we've written him recently.
