Comment Spam Killer

I, and it seems quite a number of other Movable Type users, have been suffering a plague of the scum of the Internet who don't understand that a person's personal web site is not the spot for them to advertise for their sick porn, stupid maps, or penis enlargement snake oil.

The beautiful thing about the MovableType community, however, is that when there's a problem, people step forward with a solution. Jay Allen's Killing Comment Spam for Dummies sounds like the perfect solution, a method of blocking the posting for the most common of offenders (those who are likely using a spam robot) by creating a blacklist of certain letter combinations (urls, phrases, etc.). Sure, the person could enter in their URL with a space, but then that defeats 90% of the purpose of the spam (which is not necessarily to be read, but to be clicked on).

Jay's releasing MT-blacklist tomorrow. I'll have it installed tomorrow night.
