Meeting for Dean

The Dean meetup thingamabob is growing out of hand--I mean, 200 people at Aqua Ardiente (or whatever that restaurant's name is)? Yow! I'm a bit like Groucho Marx in the sense that I'm not sure I want to be a member of any club that would have me as a member, at least if it's a club that will also have 200 other members attending at the same time. Not that I'm not pleased with how Dean's support just continues to grow, but I'm the kind of guy who likes more intimate gatherings. I note that Medley also has a thing about crowds.

So I just convinced (I think) Jill to attend the more intimate 50-person gathering at Gua-Rapo, although we've never been there (it could be, horrors, smaller than the Visions Bistro Lounge) nor is it in the District (it's in what used to be the District before that land was ceded back to Virginia in some post-Civil War quid pro quo). It's got a one-drink minimum, but given the current administration, I'll probably need another drink by then.

Yeah -- we're a little apprehensive about the MeetUp in Alexandria -- they're apparently going to cordon off half the restaurant and will serve half-price appetizers and happy hour-priced beer, but still.... they say they're expecting 200 people. Good grief!

On the other hand, the more the better in terms of buzz. Hmmm.

Went to the one here in Iowa City, partly to meet another 'net friend that I hadn't met in person yet. Walked in. 90+ people. Completely fired all of my introvert instincts. Yow!
