"I'm only 37...I'm not old"
Today is my birthday--or, as Jill prefers, part of my birthdays (you get a day for every decade you have attained). The latter works well for this one, because yesterday the adult furniture arrived: a complete bedroom set of beautiful, hand-crafted hardwood furniture. Unfortunately, that also meant that we needed to get rid of the existing bedroom furniture, which involved an exorbitant truck rental, back-aching moving (thank goodness for the freight elevator, though), a video-game-like drive through the streets of the District and northern Virginia in which Glen tries to avoid as many potholes as possible so that the furniture arrives at the consignment store intact, and a disappointing value placed upon the furniture at the store. Sigh. Maybe we should have taken it to Goodwill.
Tonight we're having a party--not necessarily a birthday one, although that's the occasion and we are going to Ben and Jerry's for an ice cream cake. We're having a party because Jill and I have been saying for the last year that we've become home hermits and need to socialize more. When I was in the Creative Writing program at AU, we regularly hosted the after-reading parties for the Visiting Writers' Series, and we were missing that kind of interaction. Plus, I love to play games (like The Great Dalmuti) and the larger the group of people you know, the more games you can play.
If you would like to send birthday wishes, you could vote for a couple of my reviews at Amazon (and only a couple--we discovered last time that too many votes gets all your recent votes thrown out). I'm still striving to make the top 1000 reviewers there, and I'm stuck around the 1250 mark at the moment. Finally making that goal would be a most excellent present! Most all of my reviews located here have links to Amazon (click on the cover image) or you can use the links from this page.

Happy birthday, Glen!
A birthday for each decade was actually my Mom's idea. You have to make getting old fun. She loves her 6 days!
Happy B-Day Glen! Can I call you Methuselah?
Sure thing, Betty. Thanks for the card, too.
Happy Birthday, Glen!
Can I call you Al?
