I've finally begun work on a new novel, tentatively titled A Life of His Design, which bases itself somewhat on James Branch Cabell. As part of my research for this novel, I'm going to be blogging some of the things I find on the web and in my reading here.

The first (aside from the entry last month on Cabell's book Beyond Life) is this entry from the Richmond State regarding Cabell's fifth birthday party, a Mother Goose costume drama that brought out 75 children in what had to be an extreme social event. The first scene that I'm writing is based on this party. I need to identify which characters among the many mentioned in this article are important for later in the book, so I can make sure they play a good role in the first scene.
