EverMac?

Widely reported today is the news that Sony/Verant are taking EverQuest to the Macintosh. So far the Macintosh has been left out of the Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game phenomena, with only the Korean-based Lineage supporting a Mac client. Neverwinter Nights is supposed to have a Mac client before the end of the year, but NWN is a bit different from the true MMORPG games out there because it is not a consistent world, but is based on modules. What some people are saying is bad about EQ for the Mac, that it won't connect with PC servers, is I think a bonus. Since Mac players are coming in late, they are at somewhat a disadvantage in a consistent game that others have been able to play for years now.

I examined Everquest for about a month and thought it interesting but ultimately frustrating due to the downtime (to regain magic points), travel requirements, and needing to be in a group to get almost anywhere in the game. I thought Asheron's Call much better, but got disgusted by it when Microsoft forced everyone to go to .NET in order to maintain their subscriptions. The other biggie out there, Ultima Online uses a top-down perspective that I thought dated itself compared to the 3D perspectives of the other games.
