Dromoland Castle

Well, lost track of writing and now we’ve begun the Sligo trail. But before I go on to that, I’ll recap briefly the last three days.

We woke in Kenmare on the 21st to a gale storm. Rain pouring down—no, sideways in the wind—with low visibility. Doing the Ring of Kerry was out of the question (we would not see anything), so we decided the best thing to do on such a day was to drive. So, we drove to Ennis. We met up with Julie and Steve Henseler (Julie is my cousin) who were staying at the Dromoland Castle (a very fancy place—we stayed in a B&B down the road). We spent a lovely evening in the bar of the Dromoland Castle—I discovered a newfound fondness for Irish whisky and Glen sampled a Black Velvet—Guinness and champagne.
