On books

It seems that I'm doomed to read less for the next few months. No, it's not that I'm reading less--I'm finishing less. School reading tends to be sections and pieces of larger work, rather than entire volumes. I'm working through a couple of books for school that will probably end up in here, though (two of the books included this time were for classes, in truth).

Karen Babich replied to previous installments and called what I'm doing "commentary" rather than reviews. I think I can agree with her, although I have tended to move towards more of a review format as I have added more people to the mailing list who I don't know "in the flesh." Commentary comes closer to what my intentions were. As I said to Jill, just think of me as the Andy Rooney of the SF world. Jill wisely told me that that was fine, as long as I didn't whine. (Which reminds me, you know those books that you buy that the pages haven't been cut...that annoys me....)
