Two job interviews

Had two meetings arranged today. The first was with Jeff Grover, of Ebasco. I met with Jeff and Russ Treat, told them about my education and experience, then listened as Russ told me about the Ebasco expansion, some new contracts and arrangements that they had just won. Russ then left, after saying he was favorably impressed. Jeff then talked about Ebasco (large architect/engineering firm, in top 10?) and the division (Environmental) here. There's also an Advanced Technology division in the Tri-Cities, Washington area. All Ebasco is soon to move to new office space. Jeff asked me some questions about Technical Writing, which I think I passed. They are not looking for writing per se--the engineers do that--but technical editing. We then closed the interview. Jeff is very interested--will be hiring (or indicating) by November 15. Wants me to let him know if I have any other offers. Talked about the camaraderie in this office, similar to what he experienced when he first went to work for Westinghouse Hanford Company.

The second meeting was with Kathy Freeman and Gayle Crawford of Boeing Computer Services. This meeting was a little less promising than the one with Ebasco, but might just be my perception. First gave me an overview of BCS, where their many employees are located and some of the many and varied tasks that they perform. BCS provides support services (tech editing, word processing, desktop publishing) for Westinghouse and others. It looks like they are thinking of me for an Editor position. Asked a slew of standard resume questions. Gave me a couple of items to "do" and send back. Took me to Human Resources, got the paperwork for the drug test (ugh). Comprimised my principles and went and gave them some piss.
